Jeans dominate Beijing fashion show

China Fashion Week has opened in Beijing, with denim dominating the catwalk on Day Two. Various styles of jeans from home and abroad caught the attention of a predominantly young audience at Saturday's shows.

24 designers presented their avant-garde creations on Saturday. A pool of international models displayed the latest trends from the international fashion world. Entitled A Journey of Adventure and Romance, the shows kick started the event's second annual jean design competition.

Among the participating lines of clothing, a series called Happy Life swept the final jackpot, winning the award for best market potential. The designer captured the tone of the time by combining a sporty look with vitality.

Designers were bold enough to use colours such as bright orange and green. They also carefully chose their material -- opting for linens with wrinkles and stretchable fabrics.
