Stephen Chow's "Kung Fu Hustle" has been named best film at the 24th Hong Kong Film Awards. But art-house director Wong Kar-wai's romance "2046" took all top acting honors.

It was a big night on the blue carpet for this year's Hong Kong Film awards. In an evenly split contest, Derek Yee's suspense thriller "One Nite in Mongkok" claimed the best director and script awards.

Derek Yee, Director & Scriptwriter, said, "It's the 30th year since I joined the film industry, not including the acting I did during my childhood. It'd been 10 years since I've been recognized as the best director and scriptwriter. Time goes by and this means a lot."

But "Kung Fu Hustle" and "2046" were the big winners on the night, clinching 12 awards between them. Former Cannes winners, Tony Leung and "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" star Zhang Ziyi, took the best actor awards for their roles in "2046".

Leung says he's over the moon, given it - his first award. And Zhang regards the accolade as encouragement to collaborate further with the Hong Kong film industry.

The "professional spirit" award went to ever-green Jackie Chan, while the South Korean film "Old Boy" took "Best Asian film" honors.

One of the Chinese-speaking world's biggest and most prolific stars, Andy Lau wasn't nominated this year. That's partly because most of his better works were classified as Chinese mainland productions, such as the martial arts film the "House of Flying Daggers" and "A World Without Thieves".

Sunday's ceremony marked 100 years of Chinese filmmaking. To recognize the occasion, clips from different eras were shown between award presentations.
