Evaluating China´s officials

A senior official from China's top safety watchdog says the country is setting up a new evaluation mechanism for officials. The successful monitoring of work safety measures will greatly impact officials at all levels. Chief administrative officials will take first-line responsibility for work safety accidents. The new mechanism will make officials not only focus on GDP growth, but also see if the accidental death toll can be reduced. The official says that China plans to decrease its current work safety accidents by 35 percent over the next five years.
