China increase Int´l scholarship

More international students will be allowed to apply for Chinese government scholarships this year. The Ministry of Education says the number of foreign students eligible for state scholarships will increase to 10 thousand in 2006. International students applying for scholarships under the Chinese Government Programme will be eligible to study or research at more than 50 Chinese universities, and in 300 different disciplines. Overseas students who win scholarships will get an annual grant of 20 thousand to 40 thousand yuan -- that's between 2,500 to 5,000 US dollars. International students can apply for the scheme up until the end of April. Applicants can get in contact with their local educational organizations or Chinese embassies in their country.
