APEC ministers meeting begins in Vietnam

Delegates are focusing on six topics, including regional trade agreements and free trade areas, and the Hanoi Action Plan to implement the Busan Roadmap. They will also focus on strengthening multilateral trade systems and contributions of members to the Doha round of WTO negotiations.

APEC system reform and security will also be discussed at the meeting.

APEC accounts for more than one-third of the world's population, about 60 percent of the world's gross domestic product, and almost half of world trade. It represents the most economically dynamic region in the world.

APEC has 21 members. The chairmanship rotates among members, with Vietnam holding the chair this year.
