In Judo, China's Xu Yan won the women's 57kg title, beating Aiko Sato from Japan in the final. Xu Yan showed her strength in the match, easily beating her opponent. The bronze medal went to Kang Sin Young of South Korea.

Meanwhile, India's Humpy Koneru won the women's chess championship, edging China's Zhao Xue to second place with an 0.5 point advantage, while the men's gold has gone to Murta Kazhgaleyev of Kazakstan.

In Basketball, China eased past Uzbekistan 91-68 in the men's preliminaries. The Chinese women did the same in the group fixture, defeating another promising team at the Games, Lebanon, 106-30.
