China-Zambia communique highlights closer bilateral cooperation

And, Zambia reaffirms its commitment to the one-China policy and its opposition to Taiwan independence in any form.

China and Zambia will strengthen consultation on international and regional issues, and work together to uphold the interests of developing countries.

They will also promote South-South cooperation and boost North-South dialogue. The communique says the goal is to achieve long-term peace and common prosperity for the world.

Future cooperation between China and Zambia will focus on infrastructure, agriculture, mining and human resources development.

The document also says Zambia recognizes China as a market economy. Both will encourage their business communities to work together.

China and Zambia will also expand cooperation in culture, education, health, tourism and aviation.
