China´s advisors call for more environmental protection efforts

However, in a group discussion amongst NPC deputies, many of whom are also local officials, there is a different tune. Some deputies are calling for a delayed implementation of the law on environmental protection. They understand its importance, but if the law is strictly implemented it will slow down the economic development of areas with poor conditions.
