Like exam takers elsewhere, these students walk out with confidence or frustration. But their preparation for the test was different to others. Four students shared this eight square meter tent. They had only sunlight to read by. But this is the best the school had to offer, and many are content with what they have.

Exam taker, said,"I did OK. I didn’t think I'd be able to take the exam when the earthquake happened. But the school has done everything for us. We feel safe and confident. I don’t feel I need anything else."

Out of safety concerns, the local education department had planned to hold the exam in another school near the county. But they finally managed to do it here so that the students can feel at home.

Gao Songshan, vice mayor city of Pu'er, said, “Taking the exam is already difficult. Doing it under these circumstances is even harder. So we have to help the students with all we have. We can’t afford to lose future talent. We can’t afford to disappoint the students and their parents.”

The rest of the summer may not be easy for the students, as they will help rebuild their homes after the two-day exam.
