China doing more for poor students

The minister admits that rural education remains the weakest part of the national education system. And considering the size rural China and its huge population, there is a pressing need to improve the situation.

"150 million students in the rural area are receiving compulsory education. To make China a strong nation with a great pool of talent, we must improve rural education. This is inseparable from every single school, every single teacher and every single student." said Zhou Ji.

The ministry announced that China will increase annual aid to 50 billion yuan to help roughly twenty million students facing financial difficulties. This will allow the future talents of China receive an education.
