The trial of the author of the notorious computer virus known as "Panda Burning Incense" ended in central China's Hubei province on Monday.

Li Jun and three others, all in their twenties, were charged with writing the virus, spreading it through the Internet, and causing harm to millions of computer users during a five-month period. They were convicted of their crime, and received from two to four years of prison sentence each.

The virus, which flashed an image of a panda holding three joss sticks, infected computer program files from November 2006 to March 2007. It was capable of stealing the account names and passwords of Internet users.
