Gov´t: Fewer new HIV cases in 2007

The central government will keep promoting anonymous testing, free treatment for the poor and a ban on discrimination against people with HIV.
More focus will be put on traditionally marginalized groups, like the gay community and drug users.
At the same time, authorities are also encouraging civic organizations, public figures, and business to get involved in the campaign and support the people living with HIV/AIDS and the AIDS orphans.
The Chinese government has made strong efforts in policy making and putting ideas into action. China's HIV/AIDS prevention has made considerable achievements in recent years, but there is still a long way to go. Now the issue is widely considered a social problem rather than a medical one. To control the spread of the disease, the participation of each and every member of society is required.
