Heavy snow affects traffic

Continuous snow on Saturday caused train delays at Bengbu Railway Station in East China's Anhui Province. And the station has launched an emergency plan for bad weather. Employees worked overnight to remove snow and lay down mats on the platforms.

Yao Huiyong, Vice director of Bengbu Railway Station, said, "We are clearing the snow as soon as it hits the ground. For the safety of our passengers, we have to ensure there is no build-up of snow on the platform."
Snow and rain have also affected transportation in Sichuan, Guizhou, Hubei and Hunan provinces in Southwest and Central China. The Central Meteorological Station warns strong cold fronts in the next three days will affect most parts of China, with snowfalls expected in the north and northeast. China's Ministry of Communications has told local governments to launch emergency plans for extreme weather to ease traffic problems.
