Snow blankets much of China

Heavy snow has affected more than one million people in eastern China''s Anhui Province。

Nearly 400 workers are repairing the towers, which are part of a major cable network sending electricity from the Three Gorges Project to Shanghai. The repair work is expected to last eight days.

In Guangzhou, south China, more than five thousand passengers have been stranded at the airport.

In southwest China's Guizhou province, hundreds of vehicles were trapped on snow-covered roads.

The State Meteorological Bureau also issued warnings for upcoming snowfalls in southwest and central China over the next few days.
