Wu emphasized that railway is the artery of the national economy. During the fight against the heavy snow, all staff in the rail system have overcome numerous difficulties and have achieved obvious effects. But as the disastrous weather is continuing, all sides in the transportation departments must guarantee three tasks to be accomplished. First of all, the order of the transportation for the spring festival must be restored and stranded passengers should be sent home as soon as possible. Second, the transportation of key resource such as coal transportation is the most urgent task. Coal production must be increased, coal transportation must be smooth. The transportation of food and other necessities for the festival must also be given priorities. Last but not least, no matter how urgent the situation is, safety must be guaranteed.

Wu Bangguo then paid a visit to Beijing West Railway Station. He checked the overall situation on the ticket sailing and expressed greetings to the passengers in the waiting room. He said the railway system must put people's interest first, put the passengers' interest first, do the best they can to provide good service, and make sure all passengers can travel home safe so that they can enjoy a happy family reunion.
