Military plays pivotal role in snow disaster relief

Meanwhile, troops stationed in the disaster-stricken areas have donated 15.39 million yuan (2.11 million U.S. dollars) and 634,000clothes to help those in need. They are also operating about 70 medical camps in affected areas.

"The relief work has progressed but there is still a tough job to do," said Shi Chujing, deputy head of the coordination office.

The soldiers and officers will stay with the local people and governments to fight the disaster and help them enjoy a peaceful Spring Festival, he said.
