Top political advisor Jia Qinglin arrived in the provincial  capital Chengdu Thursday afternoon.

Top political advisor Jia Qinglin arrived in the provincial capital Chengdu Thursday afternoon. With him were leaders of several democratic parties and the All-China Federation of Industry and Commerce.

Jia Qinglin went to a local hospital to visit some of the injured. He encouraged young patients to have the confidence to return to school and wished them a happy Children's Day. He also expressed appreciation to the injured rescuers for their courage.

Jia Qinglin also met with officials from local political consultative organizations as well as religious figures from home and abroad. He thanked them for their efforts in aftermath of the deadly earthquake.
