Saeb Erekat, Palestinian chief negotiator, said, "The differences between Senator McCain and Senator Obama are wide as far as Iraq is concerned, Afghanistan is concerned and economy is concerned, but when it comes to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, I think they share the same opinion which is the two state solution. What we want from whoever wins the elections on November fourth is to stay at the course with us."
A senior Hamas official expressed his hope that the new president elect would deal with regional conflict with a balanced attitude.
Ismail Hniyeh, Hamas Prime Minister in Gaza, said, "We look forward to seeing a president for the White House who is dealing with balance, who rejects the occupation, which was rejected by all the international laws, who can contribute from his position to restore the Palestinian rights."
