He also pointed out the mission's significance to the entire nation.
Chinese president Hu Jintao said, "The success of the Shenzhou 7 mission came after our two big successes of the rescue operations at the Wenchuan earthquake site and the Beijing Olympics and Paralympics. The three astronauts conducted China's first-ever space walk, displaying China's progress in space technology. This means China has become the 3rd country in the world that has mastered the technology for space walking. The single step that our astronauts made in space is a leap on China's road of technology innovation. The success of the Shenzhou 7 mission marks a milestone in the history of China's manned space missions."
The Chinese president also called for continuous efforts in the exploration of outer space.
He reiterated China's stance on international space exploration cooperation. He said China is willing to work hand in hand with other countries to explore outer space for the good of all mankind.
