China´s Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region celebrates 50th anniversary

Senior CPC official Zhou Yongkang said, "The development in Guangxi tells us that we must unswervingly adhere to the socialist path with Chinese characteristics. This is the only right choice for our progress. And we must unswervingly adhere to the regional ethnic autonomy system. This is an important guarantee for our development."

Senior CPC official Zhou Yongkang delivered speech at the  ceremony.

The senior CPC official added local authorities must continue striving to promote equality and unity among all ethnic groups in Guangxi.

He expressed hopes that the region can further open itself to the rest of the world.

Zhou Yongkang also urged Guangxi to develop the Beibuwan Economic Zone and the China-ASEAN Free Trade Zone to create a regional commodity, manufacturing and trade base.

Local officials promised to take advantage of the opportunities to be part of China's drive.

Guo Shengkun, secretary of CPC Guangxi Zhuang Regional Committee, said, "We're committed to achieving more breakthroughs while sticking to reform and open-up. We will endeavor to build Guangxi into a more beautiful and abundant region, and let the people of all ethnic groups here live a better life."

Guangxi also aims to become an new region for international cooperation and a new zone for the development of China's coastal economy.
