Wang Yulian, said, "I travelled during almost every Spring Festival holiday for the past few years. Sometimes I travel with my husband, but most of the time by myself. I've been to over 20 countries now and this year I wish to go to Canada and the US. But since I haven't been feeling very well lately, I might choose some domestic packages, such as a trip to Henan Province, which is not far from Beijing."

Tourist hotspots near the sea and holiday resorts are favorites for middle-aged people and their children, many of whom need a break after working hard to finish another school term.

Ms. Wu, said, "My family really enjoys travelling. I want to take my son to the Hainan Island this Spring Festival for four to five days. It's cold in Beijing in winter, so we think that spending this holiday by the sea and with some tropical sunshine may be a good idea. We are really interested in going to Taiwan but unfortunately we don't have that many days off."

For the young and energetic, there is a wide range of choices. The US, Europe and Australia are the three hottest overseas destinations.

Trips to Southeast Asia such as Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia used to be very popular but their popularity has been dampened by the economic slowdown and political instability in some countries.
