Chinese relics auctioned off for 14 mln Euros each

The two bronze sculptures, a rat's head and a rabbit's head, were looted by invading Anglo-French forces in 1860. They were taken when the invaders burned down the royal garden of the Yuanmingyuan Old Summer Palace in Beijing.

The Tribunal de Grande Instance in Paris had ruled against stopping the sale of the two bronzes on Monday. On Tuesday, the Chinese government formally called for the cancellation of the auction of the two pieces.
