Tibetan official: Oppose "Tibet Independence" through development

Qiangba Puncog said, "Our GDP achieved double-digit growth. The average income for farmers increased by nearly 14 percent. These figures are high... indicating that people in Tibet want stability and seek development. They share a consensus. That unity is a blessing, while splitting and turmoil bring about disasters. Stability is a prerequisite for development and better living standards."

Qiangba Puncog also says the Dalai Clique and other hostile forces have been fabricating rumors against the central government and the Tibet regional government. He says they are attempting to inflict damage in the region.

He stresses that development is the fundamental key to resolving the Tibet issue.
