Tibetologists visit UK, hold discussions with Chinese students abroad

The Chinese students said the meeting gave them more information about the autonomous region. They are firm in supporting their country.

Zhang Qiaoyu, also a student of Imperial College London, said, "Now I know many things that I didn't know in the past. The discussion has strengthened our confidence in loving our country and fighting against Tibet independence."

Tibetan people are celebrating the central government's move to quell political unrest and the 50th anniversary of democratic reforms. And March 28th also marks the 50th anniversary of emancipation of serfs and slaves in the area. A commentary published in Monday's Global Times, a major Chinese newspaper, said the "genuine autonomy for the Tibetan people" advocated by the Dalai Lama is only another term for "Tibet independence".
