Lhasa speeds up construction of eco-garden city

From this year, Lhasa will start renovating the street view of Beijing Road (M). According to the plan, when finished, all buildings on the street will feature local ethnic characteristics and all billboards of stores along the street will share the same style.

The renovation of the street also includes improving the water supply system and burying wires below the ground surface.

"Renovating street views is an important project to enhance the image of Lhasa City and improve its status. It is also a drive to build Lhasa into a national eco-garden city and a top tourist city in the country," said a leading official of the city's Construction Bureau.

"The Beijing Road (M) is a major municipal road in Lhasa, which sees a great flow of people. It is also a road that all citizens and tourists will visit. The view of the road after renovation will be a highlight of the city," added the official.
