Authorities in Sichuan are stepping up efforts to locate everyone who has had close contact with the man.
Yang Wei, Director of Chengdu Health Bureau, said, "There were 150 passengers and 10 crew members aboard flight 3U-88-82. Crew members are currently under quarantine. 25 passengers hold permanent Chengdu residency. We've found 18 of them and placed them under quarantine. We've located 45 of the rest."
Designated hospitals for treating the flu and medical observation sites have been launched across Chengdu.
The Ministry of Health has dispatched a team of experts to the city to guide prevention and control.
The city's Shuangliu Airport is still operating as usual.
Passengers can board their flight if no abnormal signs are detected after temperature checks and completing health registration forms.
