The 1st of October is China’s National Day. Fifty-three years ago, at Tiananmen Square, Chairman Mao Zedong solemnly declared to the world that the People’s Republic of China had been established. In celebration of China’s birthday, Center Stage has prepared two special editions that will depict the country’s modern history through art.
In September 1949, the First Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference convened in Beijing. Among the items on this landmark agenda were the selection of a national flag and national anthem. In fact, delegates had almost 3,000 flag designs sent in by people from all over the country to choose from. Finally, they unanimously selected the five-star design for the national flag. Get ready to enjoy some celebrated song and dance performances like “Flattering Red Flag”, “Song of Harvest” and “Story of Spring”. As one of the world’s oldest and largest countries, China has a great historic legacy and diverse beauty. To join the celebration, join Center Stage’s National Day specials on the 1st and 2nd of October.
