| CCTV provides prime time viewing for Spring Festival |

Every Spring Festival, millions of Chinese tune into CCTV to watch the Spring Festival Extravaganza. To cater to viewers' demands, CCTV will screen a variety of dramas, comedies and martial arts shows at high－viewing times. The programs are aimed at amusing audiences and providing added holiday cheer during Spring Festival.
 Even though Spring Festival has not officially begun yet, CCTV 8, China's drama channel, is already preparing for the occasion. "Xi Laile, the Miracle－working Doctor," a 30－episode drama is being broadcast at peak viewing times every night. The drama is based on the legendary life of self－taught doctor Xi Laile, who devoted his life to helping the poor. Famous actor Li Baotian stars in the leading role.
Starting February 8, the drama channel will launch a comedy series: "It is good to be happy." This comedy will show the lives of ordinary people from a touching and humorous angle. Starring Liang Guanhua and Yang Lixin, the play will also assemble a large number of comic sketch stars.
Another comedy, "Liu Laogen Part Two," will be aired on the drama channel. The first part of "Liu Laogen" was very well received by audiences and the sequel is expected to be another hit. Zhao Benshan, a leading funny man on Chinese TV, directs the sequel and also plays the lead.
 No Spring Festival would be complete without martial arts. In a few days, two provincial TV stations will be the first in China to broadcast "The Legend Of Condo Heroes," a martial arts series adapted from Jin Yong's famous martial arts novel. The drama channel will in turn, re－play "The Story of a Sword Man," also known as "Xiao Ao Jiang Hu," another marital arts play based on Jin Yong's novel. Fans of Jin Yong will be happily satiated during Spring Festival.
Competition among television stations has grown over the years, and Spring Festival is prime time for reaching viewers as they turn on the tube, sit back and relax and enjoy their holiday.
