Chinese are treated to Spring Festival arts feast

Performing artists never let the once-a-year opportunities of the Spring Festival holidays go by without trying to squeeze in every possible time and place during the spirited celebrations. Almost all choose nostalgia as their theme with traditional arts. Some overseas artists also follow Asian traditions by joining the Spring Festival performing season with their brilliant shows.

Watching modern dramas in Beijing-dialect, one of the more popular traditional art forms in Beijing, is perhaps the best way for Beijingers to recall past times in the Spring Festival.

“Everybody is in the mood for nostalgia. I want to invite my family and friends to recall the warm feeling through the modern drama,” said an audience member.

Sensational modern dramas such as "Tea House" and "Sunrise" meet tradition-lovers' needs. And the classical Peking Opera, the traditional Xiangsheng, or straight man-funny man cross-talk comedy presented by retired artists along with folk music concerts will give audiences even more variety in traditional entertainment.

Some overseas performances such as "Tour of An Occult Wonderland" and Brett Daniel's magic act will also join the oriental celebrations. A ticket seller says the booking rate of the various performances is rising and they are expecting a hot show season.
