As part of the program to promote China's traditional Spring Festival, an exhibition on China's Lunar New Year was presented to the public on Tuesday in Beijing. Among hundreds of visitors, international diplomats took the chance to taste the joyful atmosphere of the Lunar New Year.

For many foreign diplomats in China, Spring Festival is the equivalent of Christmas in Western countries. It's the time of family to get together and a time to share joy and hope. Many of them may not be familiar with the traditions particular to the festival. The on-going exhibition entitled "Chinese and the Lunar New Year" provides an opportunity for this international community to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of the Lunar New Year.

"Now I know the origin, now I know everything that is done. Now I know what people think and expect when the season comes," said Edson M.D. Monteiro, minister counselor of Embassy of Brazil.

"This is an excellent exhibition. It shows precisely what many people is wondering," said Sergiio Ley Lopez, ambassador of Embassy of Mexico.

Paper cutting, dough figurine molding, lion dancing, and handicrafts from different parts of the country. Chinese craftsmen brought the audience a comprehensive view of folk customs in China.
