Although the Spring Festival holiday week came to an end on February 8, some major travel destinations in China are still seeing a boom. Some tourists have chosen to shun the peak traffic of the Lunar New Year.

While some vacationers are returning to their normal life and work at the end of the Spring Festival holiday season, others are just packing for their sight-seeing journeys.

In the sunny days to come, a growth is expected in the number of tourists in the popular scenic spots in central and southern China.

On Friday, some touring parties arrived in China's southernmost Hainan Province. Most of them will stay in the sub-tropical island for five to seven days and some will wander there for a month.

During the week to come, major hotels in the northeastern city of Harbin have booked rates as high as 70%. A steady flow of tourists is still pouring into the winter resort to get a feel of the world of snow and ice. According to the estimates of local tourism authorities, the travel boom in the city will last well into early March.
