As the Lantern Festival approaches, things are lighting up in the city of Zibo in east China's Shandong province. The stories behind the thousands of lanterns come from traditional Chinese mythology.
At the newly opened Zibo Folk Art Lantern Exhibition, sound and light come together to bring new life to traditional Chinese lanterns. Portraying fairy maidens and scary fox spirits, the exciting exhibition is attracting great numbers of visitors.
Based on traditional lanterns, these new－style lamps meet the tastes of both young and old. There are over 10,000 lanterns on display, making the city as bright as day during the long winter nights.
