On the west bank of the Xiaodong River outside Guilin, in South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, lies a seven-story brick pagoda, called Longevity Buddha Pagoda, and rests on the top of, ever so appropriate, Pagoda Hill. And right now this religious landmark is getting a facelift.
A renovation is well underway to restore the beauty of the ancient pagoda, which is one of Guilin's four oldest pagodas.
Built in the Ming Dynasty more than 600 years ago, the hexagonal pagoda is over 13 meters high and three meters wide on its lowest floor. The second floor displays stone Buddha figurines.
The pagoda and the hill it rests on are one of Guilin's most famous scenic spots.
