SUN, FEB 24, 2002
The Tianjin Science and Engineering University and the University of Quebec, Canada, will jointly train China's first group of master's degree students in project management (MPM).
With the approval of the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council, the Tianjin Science and Engineering University has signed the final agreement of cooperation with the University of Quebec.
The first group of 45 Chinese MPM students will be enrolled in March, and they will receive training in April at the Tianjin Science and Engineering University, according to the bilateral agreement.
The trainees are expected to win MPM degrees from the University of Quebec if they get high marks during their training course, which will be jointly undertaken by the two universities.
Some of the trainees will be chosen for three-month practice programs at the University of Quebec during the training period.
Professor Yin Yilin of the Tianjin Science and Engineering University said that project management is an important branch of modern management science, involving the achievements of management science, psychology and behavioral science, as well as computer and network technologies.
The experience of developed countries shows that management techniques can save project investment by 10 percent and shorten the time limit for a project by 20 percent.
