Chinese Defense Minister Holds Talks with Cote D'Ivoire Counterpart

Chinese Defense Minister Chi Haotian held talks in Beijing Sunday with Moise Lida Kouassi, Cote D'Ivoire Minister of State for Defense and Protection of Nationals. ¡¡¡¡
Chi, also vice chairman of the Central Military Commission and a state councilor, said the Chinese government attaches importance to developing friendly and cooperative relations with developing countries, including the African nations.
Since China and Cote D'Ivoire established diplomatic ties, the two nations have developed steady and healthy relations and constantly expanded the field of cooperation, Chi said, adding that the maintenance and development of their friendly ties is not only in the fundamental interests of both peoples, but conducive to the world peace and stability as well.
He said in recent years there has been great development of friendly cooperation and frequent high-level visits between the armed forces of the two countries.
He said the Chinese armed forces are willing to further promote friendly and cooperative ties with their Cote D'Ivoire counterparts in various spheres.
Chi also exchanged views with the guests on the international situation, and briefed them on China's foreign policy, domestic situation and the construction of the armed forces.
Moise Lida Kouassi said Cote D'Ivoire pays great attention to, and will continue to boost, the development of its ties with China. He hoped that friendly and cooperative relations between their armed forces would continue to develop.
