| Chinese government to improve regulations on airfare pricing |

The State Development and Reform Commission says it will revise and update a proposal on improving the domestic airfare regulatory mechanism for the Civil Aviation Industry by taking into account the suggestions made by representatives of the public at an airfare hearing held on Tuesday. The hearing mainly discussed pricing and relevant regulatory mechanisms for the passenger market.
At present, consumers are complaining about high airfares charged by airlines, while the civil aviation regulators are worried that price wars among airlines could hurt the development of the industry.
The proposal will form the basis of the new policy on regulating domestic airfares, after it is approved by the State Council.
