The Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport has passed the anti-SARS assessment by the International Civil Aviation Organization, or ICAO. It marks the solid progress Guangzhou has made in fighting the SARS epidemic.

ICAO experts said on Monday they were fully satisfied with the implementation of all the anti-SARS measures at the Baiyun International Airport in Guangzhou, the capital of south China's Guangdong Province, and the site of the first reported SARS case.

ICAO experts listened to reports from airport officials on their efforts to implement the measures, and assessed the services provided by the airport by impersonating overseas passengers. They paid special attention to the airport's review of passenger health declarations. After carrying out a comprehensive evaluation of the ICAO anti-SARS measures over the past two days, the experts stated there was no need to take any further measures at the airport.

To date, China's major international airports in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou have all passed the ICAO's anti-SARS assessment.
