The 999 Group, one of China's largest traditional herbal medicine producers, has bought 51 percent of Japan East Asia Pharmacy.
In making the announcement, Chief Executive Officer of the 999 Group Zhao Xin said the medicines currently produced by Japan East Asia Pharmacy will all be branded 999 from this September. 999 plans to introduce some 100 Chinese traditional herbal medicines to the Japanese market.
Chinese traditional herbal medicines are usually categorized as health food in Japan because the country has very strict approval procedures for foreign medicines and it usually takes about 5 years for an approval.
