China's job market is expected to pick up in the second half of the year. In its quarterly analysis, the Ministry of Labor and Social Security cited the economic upturn following SARS as the major reason for the likely surge in employment.
The report noted that China's job market shrunk during the SARS crisis. Vacancies fell by 10 percent compared to normal. However, since late June, demand for labor has been increasing. Eight million new jobs are expected by the end of the year. Skilled technical and professional workers are the most sought-after categories of labor.
Analysts say the trend is likely to continue until early next year.
