The world's longest commercial airliner has touched down in China. The Airbus A340-600 landed in Shanghai on Wednesday. The plane is 74.8 meters long and can carry up to 380 passengers.
A huge amount of money was spent upgrading the first and business-class compartments. The number of seats has been reduced to 322 to give more space. Lighting and entertainment systems have been improved and passengers will have 24 TV channels to choose from.
With a range of 13,900 kilometers, the Airbus will be used for long-haul flights, helping China Eastern Airlines compete with international carriers. In the last seven months, nine airplanes have been bought by the airline, and another nine are due to arrive later this year.
