Chinese leaders meet ROK president |

Visiting President Roh Moo-hyun of the Republic of Korea has spent the second day of his official visit meeting with senior Chinese leaders. China's top legislator Wu Bangguo, Premier Wen Jiabao, and Vice President Zeng Qinghong and the ROK president have all expressed optimism that a partnership of comprehensive cooperation between their two countries has a bright future.
China's top legislator Wu Bangguo said Roh's visit soon after assuming office indicates how highly the new ROK government values the ties between two countries.
He said President Hu Jintao and President Roh Moo-hyun's consensus on building a "comprehensive cooperative partnership" reflects the development of bilateral ties at present and in the future.
Wu Bangguo briefed his guests on the work of China's legislature, saying China will develop a legal system with Chinese characteristics by 2010.
President Roh Moo-hyun said his visit has further convinced him that ROK-Chinese relations will enjoy comprehensive development in the new century.
Premier Wen Jiabao expressed satisfaction over the rapid development of bilateral trade ties.
He invited ROK enterprises to participate in developing China's western regions, and called for more cooperation in high-tech, resources exploration, and environmental protection.
Vice President Zeng Qinghong laid out China's stance on Pyongyang's nuclear issue, saying China welcomes an improvement in relations on the peninsula and appreciates the policy of peace and prosperity advocated by President Roh.
The ROK President thanked China for its support for both sides of the Korean Peninsula, stressing that his country will continue to work for the peninsula's peace and stability.
