In East China's Anhui Province, over 300 medical workers are in place to provide free medicine and treatment. And no epidemic has appeared in Mengwa since flood water from the Huaihe River were diverted to the area just over a week ago.

The diverted flood water has submerged up to 12,000 hectares of farmland in Mengwa in the middle reaches of Huaihe River. Nearly 10,000 affected residents were evacuated to safety. Local health officials say medical workers and medicine have been sent to deal with intestinal diseases that often occur after flooding.

The local health authorities have set up 16 medical stations to provide free treatment. Medical workers also conduct regular tests on drinking water and disinfect it when necessary.
