In more good news for China's poor, new regulations have been introduced that will enable them to receive free legal assistance if they meet certain basic requirements.
The regulations, which go into effect on September 1, call for local governments above county level to devote human and financial resources to help the impoverished seek justice. The Chinese government has also for the first time allowed independent companies or organizations to utilize their own resources to provide free legal consultation services to those who can't afford to hire a lawyer.
