Group discussions of the ongoing 16th CPC Congress, which were open to Chinese and international media coverage, have won approval from world reporters.

An Indian reporter attended group discussions of northeast China's Liaoning Province and Beijing Municipality. He found the discussions open and lively.

Hong Kong reporter Tan Weier said, "Before we came here, we had thought the Party Congress might not be as open as the National People's Congress. But what we have found is many group discussions open to the media as well as press conferences, which made us feel relieved."

Altogether, 15 group sessions were open to the media. Open discussions offered reporters opportunities to exchange ideas with delegates directly. In the Beijing group session, the Beijing 2008 Olympiad and the new idea of municipal development attracted wide interest.

The session of east China's Jiangsu Province has drawn much attention in discussion of the development of privately owned enterprises.

And in the discussion of South China's Fujian Province, the "Three Direct Links" of trade, transport and mail services between the mainland and Taiwan once again became the focus.

Nearly 1,400 Chinese and international reporters have gathered in Beijing to cover the event. The number of reporters from overseas media ranks as the highest in history covering the CPC National Congress.
