Delegates to the 16th National Congress of the Chinese Communist Party have begun a day of group discussions on the report delivered by General Secretary Jiang Zemin.

A final version will be approved when the congress comes to a close in about a week's time. But delegates are already expressing their endorsement of the report--which leads the way to China's development in the 21st century.

The sentiment at Saturday's group discussions was full of hope.

Delegates say the "Three Represents" thought in the report serves as a guideline for the Party and people in the new century.

It's important to fully understand the thought and implement it in carrying out the duties of all party members.

As China has already achieved the preliminary stages of becoming a well-off society, delegates hailed Jiang Zemin's report, which aims to achieve this in an all-round way.

Delegates are confident that China will become a stronger and more prosperous socialist country through the leadership of the CPC.

Some of the group discussions are being opened to the media.
