Xishuangbanna to make the Water Splashing Festival

Next month, many Dai ethnic people will be busy slipping and sliding when the Water Splashing Festival kicks off in Xishuangbanna, in southwest China's Yunnan province. This traditional celebration of washing away the old year and welcoming the new aims to attract international attention.

The Water Splashing Festival is the Dai ethnic group's most joyous celebration. People wash away the demons of the old year and welcome the joy of the new. This year's festival falls between April the 12th to 15th. New activities are being added to develop it into an international tourist brand.

"Treasuring Water and Splashing Love," this year's festival will combine the Water Splashing Fair, an International Food Festival, camping, and other entertainment activities.
