Those in China have quite a selection of shows between CCTV's 14 channels and all the other local networks available. But by the end of the month, viewers will have one more CCTV choice and that's the brand-new CCTV Music Channel.
CCTV Music Channel will begin formal broadcasting on March the 29th. The new channel will broadcast 18 hours daily - 6 of which will be produced by CCTV itself. The content will be mainly elegant classical music. Unlike non-mainstream music channels, CCTV Music Channel is selling itself as the voice of classical music and a paradise for lovers of highbrow music.
Since it's crucial for new TV programs to be launched with the right packaging, the team has put a lot of thought into the show's style. Designs will be mainly composed of curves with a strong modern touch, for a refreshing visual effect. The studios are still busy preparing samples, including both Chinese traditional folk music and western music.
