Drama penetrates world of white-collar workers

The play Inside the White-Collar Worker's Circle isn鈥檛 a stretch from the actors' real lives. When they aren't performing this play on stage they live the real thing during the day in the office. They've been giving Shanghai theatergoers some insight into the world of white-collar workers.
Most dramas about white-collar workers are concerned with pedestrian love stories, but not Inside the White-Collar Worker's Circle. This play takes place inside the office. But instead of centering on work, the story focuses on the daily trivialities of office life and analyzes the inner world of the characters. The play strives for clinical accuracy, and achieves its goal partly due to the casting.
Director Hong Rong chose real-life white-collar workers to act in the play. She said, "It is a story written by and about themselves. I think a certain advantage they have over professionals is that they are walking out of their real lives and walking directly into the play."
