As the 16th National Party Congress is coming in only less than two weeks' time, China Central Television will present a special series program to mark the occasion. The program highlights the major achievements made under the current CPC leadership with Jiang Zemin at the core, and the challenges and opportunities ahead.

Entitled "Entering a new era," the ten-part series program reflects the overall development of China over the past decades. The program is a joint product of the CPC History Research Office, CCTV and other governmental organizations. It includes exclusive interviews with all the top Chinese leaders. It provides in-depth analysis of President Jiang Zemin's "Three Represents" theory, which will guide the CPC in the coming years. The program also describes China's unremitting efforts in the areas such as economic reform, national defense, foreign affairs and the reunification of the motherland.

At Monday's press conference, producers of the series said that the program is the most comprehensive and authoritative on CPC today. The program will be broadcast from October 30th in prime time slots on CCTV channel one, and will last till the opening of the 16th National Party Congress on Nov.8. The series will also be shown at CCTV-9, the English channel.
