There are two days to go before the opening of the 16th Chinese Communist Party's National Congress. Journalists from across the world are flocking into the country, exceeding the number at all previous Party congresses.

They are registering to report the 16th CPC National Congress at the media center. They're eyeing the upcoming Congress, which will set out the blueprint for China's development over the next 20 years.

Already, 1,371 journalists have registered. Among them, 170 are from Hong Kong, 8 from Macao and 85 from Taiwan Province. There are also 536 journalists from 37 countries and 241 media institutions. Many of them prepared for it quite early.

What they're most interested in is the new generation of leadership for the vast country, and government plans to continue the reform and opening up. The Congress will begin on Friday.

The Congress hasn't started yet, but the media war has begun. The large number of journalists from home and abroad are competing for stories that will provide a front row view on this historic event.
